A recent survey suggests that almost half of us would cancel their account if their provider suffers a data breach. A third of respondents said that they would avoid a company that had been hacked previously and a significant percentage of victims would be prepared to claim damages.
Routers from a number of firms have recently suffered malware attacks. The routers affected include Talk Talk and the Post Office. The businesses affected are taking remedial action, but researchers believe the attack could spread through routers into users connected home devices.
Security firm Check Point report that over a million Android users are at risk form malware that allows hackers to root their devices remotely. The Gooligan malware is thought to have begun infecting android devices in August 2016. Check Point suggests a number of measures users can take, including a clean installation of a device’s Operating System. They also offer an online service which allows users to quickly check whether their device has been compromised.
